High School Applicants

CSS-MSE will have a limited number of 9th grade seats available in 2010, and will screen students on the basis of state ELA and Math Tests, GPA and a sample essay.

UPPER SCHOOL APPLICATION PROCESS

1. Submit your NYCDOE's High School Application. Put CSS as #1 option

  • Program Code: A15A
  • Program: Columbia Secondary School

2.Send to CSS the application package

3.Wait for CSS to contact you for possible interview and admissions essay exam.

 

 

Please note: We do not yet have grades 10, 11, or 12.

Middle School Applicants

The CSS-MSE Middle School Admissions Process is highly selective - last year less than 10% of the more than 1000 applicants were invited to attend.For entry into 6th grade preference is given to students who either reside or go to school in Upper Manhattan (north of 96 street); then to other Manhattan residents; then city-wide.

Step 1:Test Scores
Minimum combination of levels 3-4 in Math, ELA and over 85% in Science standardized tests
Step 2: Admissions Test
The top 250 applicants will be invited to take the admissions test. This is roughly the top 60 applicants from each district (3,4,5,6)
Step 3: Interview
In addition to take the Admissions exam, candidates for 7th and 8th grade will be interviewed

 Specialized High Schools Admissions Test - All current 8th graders

Fri., Dec 4th Deadline to submit NYCDOE "Application for Admission" to Counselors.
Tues., Dec. 15

Deadline to submit supplemental CSS Application Package (Extended from Dec 4th)
Mon., Feb. 1, 2010 Distribute New HS form
Th., Feb. 4, 2010 Students receive the specialized HS Round Results
Tu., Feb. 23, 2010 Student's decisions about SHS round are due to counselors.
Wed., March 24, 2010 Students receive their main round match results
