Application for Upper School - 9th grade

In order to complete the application process for CSS Upper school all current 8th graders must follow 3 simple steps:

Step 1: NYCDOE HS Application
Submit your NYCDOE High School Application to your current school's Guidance Counselor.
  • Make sure to put CSS as your #1 choice
  • Program code: A15A
  • Program name:Columbia Secondary School
  • School name:Columbia Secondary School
Step 2: Send to CSS the Application Package
Your application package must include ALL the following items:
  • Completed CSS Application form
    • Click here to download the Upper School application
  • Copy of 6th and 7th ELA + Math Standardized Test scores or any equivalent (ERB, IOWA, etc.)
  • Copy of Middle School Report Card (6th and 7th grade)
  • Sample essay or research report. This must be certified by teacher to be original. Please include teacher's comments and grade if available.
Step 3: Possible interview and/or essay exam
Based on DOE's matching process and our assessment of eligibility, we may invite some candidates to an interview and essay test. Our admissions office will contact candidates primary via e-mail, then by phone. Please do not call the school inquiring about the status of your application.

*CSS will not consider candidates with incomplete documentation;

*CSS will not return any submitted documentation.
